Here's Why Some States are Balking

Several Republican Governors are not going to take "Stimulus" money. One cogent reason is that the bill requires states to make permanent changes in their laws to spend the federal money. For example Gov. Jindal of Louisiana said he is rejecting $100 million in unemployment assistance in the stimulus plan because it would force the state to raise business taxes to pay for the extra aid once the federal dollars run out.
