Obama Drops "Public Option" ???

Oh. Really? Obama and the left's plan all along has been, and continues to be, control of health care in our country. The recent moves by Congress, embodied in the various "Health Care Bills", assaulted our present system on multiple fronts.

First - it proposed a Government owned, financed and operated "public" option insurance plan.

Second - and most importantly, it proposed a laundry list of over 1,000 pages of rules, practices and procedures for all health care insurance companies AND PROVIDERS to follow.

Both of these paths spell the end to private health care insurance, and usher in Government control of our health care practices and decisions.

The first objective, a "public" option would set up insurance businesses financed entirely by the U.S. government. This "option" would undercut private insurance companies and drive them out of business. Obama is now, gratuitously floating a proposal to drop this "option".

The second objective, "TO REGULATE THE HELL OUT OF PRIVATE INSURERS AND DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS" remains in place. When this happens, private insurance companies close up shop and Government steps in because "private insurance cannot meet the needs of the people". !

Either way, SOCIALIST Government wins.

A fine article from National Review describing the key objectionable features of the "American Clean Energy and Security Act, also known as Waxman-Markey Bill or the "Cap & Trade" Bill. There are many objectionable provisions in this bill, but the one which signifies the depth to which it makes government intrude into your lives (besides the punative tax reprecussions) is the one forcing state governments to inspect and certify your home to be in compliance with the rules (light bulbs, energy compliant appliances with "carbon output" labels, etc), before you are allowed to sell it or to obtain a building permit.

I attended this rally. Rep. Castor simply read off talking points.... was not interested in taking questions. She filled the front four rows of the small hall with her SEIU union thugs. Those wanting to get Castor to answer questions became upset and started shouting when it became apparent there was not going to be any dialog or answers forthcoming. Outside several hundred chanted and shouted as SEIU members, directed by their union boss handlers, waved signs and tried to drown out the chanting. I'd say that outside those dissatisfied with this health care plan outnumbered the SEIU people by around ten to one. Here I am "discussing" an issue with an SEIU supporter.....

Violence at Tampa health care forum

I attended this meeting. That's me in one of those photos. I saw no violence. I was outside the entire time, having been blocked out by an overflow crowd inside. The hall capacity was 250, another 100 were in the hallway outside the meeting room and at least another 250 were outside. the building The crowd outside was loud. Those opposed to health care far outnumbered those in support of it. The SEIU Union goons were obvious by their presence but made no moves to obstruct that I observed. The guy carrying the OBAMA is a SOCIALIST "JOKER" sign caused a lot of opposition yelling, but again I saw no violence.

Outside, we were told that Castor did NOT appear and that only her spokesperson was there and Castor was on a telephone hookup. I do not know the truth of this matter. I do know that Castor has scheduled another town hall meeting one week from today .... but that will be a telephone conference call wherein a password is needed to connect. A REALLY OPEN forum, eh?

My wife and I did NOT ATTEND because we were sent by ANY organization. We were not paid by anyone. We learned of Castor's meeting and went to a website to get location and time. We carried no signs. We fought no battles. We both had spirited discussions with opposition protesters.

Castor, if she was present physically, appeared to be hidden and not available to the public.
