US breast cancer drug decision 'marks start of death panels'

"America's health watchdog is considering revoking its approval of the drug Avastin for use on women with advanced breast cancer, leading to accusations that it will mark the start of 'death panel' drug rationing." [U.K. Telegraph]

  1. There will be lot of lobby from the gigantic pharmaceutical companies to revoke the ban, Millions of dollars will be at stake with these medicines.

  2. Of course there will be pressure from the manufacturer. Why shouldn't there be? They are selling a product that is proven to be effective (that is not in dispute) and are entitled to whatever profits can legally be made. The only reason the FDA is considering banning it for breast cancer patients is because these government bureaucrats (not you, not your doctor, not even your insurance provider) have decided that your life is not worth the cost.
