Is Unofficial Inflation Present In The Economy?

Since the 1960's when inflation went very high, the Guv'mint has twice modified how the Consumer Price Index is calculated.  Both changes reduce the size of the CPI increases so that even in rampant inflationary periods, it is not seen in the value of the CPI !!!   Hence ..... voi la .... no inflation.  Isn't it great how the numbers work out?

By the way ......  the spot price of gold (a REAL measure of the inflated U.S. Dollar) just hit $1475 a few minutes ago .... near the all-time high of $1478 which was reached a few days ago.
