Screw up, move up, cover up: Fast and Furious edition

There are now enough Operation Fast and Furious officials playing hide-and-seek in the Obama administration to fill a “rubber room.”

That’s the nickname for taxpayer-subsidized holding pens, such as the ones in the New York City public schools, where crooked employees are separated from the system and paid to do nothing. Perhaps the White House can stimulate a few construction jobs by adding an entire rubber room annex for “reassigned” scandal bureaucrats at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It’s getting mighty crowded.

Pick a fight with a liberal on ELITISM

"Liberals believe in egalitarianism. They don't often get called on it, though, because no one bothers to defend elitism—but you should. Ask a liberal, "So you really disapprove of competition and hierarchy and achievement and want everything to be equal do you? Well, answer me this, if you were president and you needed a handful of troops to do a delicate, dangerous job, who would you turn to—a unit of racially and sexually and disability diverse troops or the elite: Special Forces, Navy Seals, Delta Force? When you watch football, assuming you're willing to watch something so violent and competitive, do you want to watch the elite, the best of the best, the professionals who made it to the NFL on the basis of their talent and training, or a United Nations coordinated rainbow coalition of teams drawn from men and women from around the world to make it a truly global unisex game? Or suppose you needed serious surgery, would you prefer the operation to be done by a surgeon with years of practice behind him, drawn from the elite of the medical profession, or by a deserving recent immigrant, selected for the task as a result of the new Obamafair™ social justice program designed to boost the self-esteem of low-skill workers while simultaneously combating society's sexist, racist, elitist hegemony?"

Obama Acts Like He's Above Law on Immigration

"Republicans are attacking President Barack Obama for acting like a “king that is above the law” in deciding to pick and choose which illegal aliens to deport.

“The Obama administration cannot get its amnesty schemes through Congress, so now it has resorted to implementing its plans via executive fiat,” said Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer.

“We need to remind President Obama that we elected a president that serves beneath the law and did not anoint a king that is above the law.”

Where Is the Outrage At Captain Bull Malarkey and His Bus Tour?

"... Barack Obama’s bus tour. It is a campaign trip. The administration is doing little to hide it and a passive press corps is even describing it as a bus tour while minimizing the fact that American taxpayers are footing the bill in its entirety. When George W. Bush took his own bus tour, he did so with campaign funds. Barack Obama is expecting you, me, and everyone else to fund his re-election campaign.

Sell the damn buses and refund the money, Mr. President. It is a campaign trip pure and simple and your campaign should fund it. It is outrageous that you would buy million dollar buses from Canada in order to drive around the countryside demagoguing private jet owners."

The Anti-American President

"Obviously something is rotten on Pennsylvania Avenue; no intelligent American president would do the things Obama has done.  There has been talk of his inexperience,  incompetence, or just plain stupidity to explain his Bizarro-administration.  However, Obama is not incompetent; he is an intelligent anti-American president.  Obama is not a failure at his job -- his job is the failure of our country."

Joe Wilson: I Was Right to Yell '‘You Lie’ at Obama

"Nearly two years after shouting “You lie” at President Barack Obama during an address to a joint session of Congress, South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson says he has been vindicated.

“The reforms I am proposing would not apply to those what are here illegally,” the president said.

But Wilson says $8.5 million of a $28.8 million award to community healthcare centers has been specifically set aside to help seasonal and migrant farm workers, and that the clinics have been told not to ask for immigration status."

Rush Limbaugh: Where are Obama's former girlfriends?

" "I got one of these email things," Limbaugh said on his program this afternoon.
"And, of course, I've only seen it a thousand times, and knew it before I received the first one. And you probably have seen this one going around. This one is, 'Where are all of Obama's former girlfriends?' It's a takeoff on where are all of the students Obama taught who claim to have been inspired by him when he taught law at the University of Chicago. Where are all of the former classmates of Obama who can tell wonderful stories about their experience with Obama on campus or in the classroom?"

Nobody, absolutely no one recalls Obama from Columbia where he claims he studied, and graduated.  He appears in no publicly available records (yearbooks, newsletters, housing) for those two years at Columbia.  He has refused permission for Columbia to release any records.

I have a suspicion that the reason for this is that HE WAS NOT AT COLUMBIA.

If not, where was he for those two years after attending Occidental College, then traveling with his Pakistani friend to visit his mother in Indonesia and his friend's home in Pakistan?  Conspiracy adherents suggest Patrice Lumumba Univ. in Moscow, or CIA interpreter in Pakistan.  I don't simply know, except there is no evidence that he attended Columbia, except a statement (unsupported by documents) saying that he graduated.

Coins Costing Taxpayers?

I guess I'm an exception.  I always carry around 5 or 6 of these $1 coins and I use them just about every day.  For a while, people would question what these were and examine them very carefully.  Lately, however, I've found them to be readily accepted, without puzzled looks.  The only ptoblem is that in spite of this video's depiction of billions of these beimg minted and stored away, they are almost impossible to acquire from your bank.   The only way my bank would supply me with any was for me to buy $1,000 worth.  They come in $25 rolls.

I believe the distribution problem with these coins lies in the banks.  They simply will not stock this currency.

Voters See These ‘Corporate Welfare’ Programs As A Good Place To Cut Government Spending

Jet tax is useless – and Obama knows it

"President Barack Obama has called for a luxury tax on corporate jets as a means to generate revenue to fight federal deficits. The president's economic advisers ought to be fired for not telling him that doing so is unwise and counterproductive.

When Congress imposed a 10 percent luxury tax on yachts, private airplanes and expensive automobiles,..... Within eight months after the change in the law took effect, Viking Yachts, the largest U.S. yacht manufacturer, laid off 1,140 of its 1,400 employees and closed one of its two manufacturing plants. Before it was all over, Viking Yachts was down to 68 employees. In the first year, one-third of U.S. yacht-building companies stopped production, and according to a report by the congressional Joint Economic Committee, the industry lost 7,600 jobs. When it was over, 25,000 workers had lost their jobs building yachts, and 75,000 more jobs were lost in companies that supplied yacht parts and material. Ocean Yachts trimmed its workforce from 350 to 50. Egg Harbor Yachts went from 200 employees to five and later filed for bankruptcy. The U.S., which had been a net exporter of yachts, became a net importer as U.S. companies closed. Jobs shifted to companies in Europe and the Bahamas. The U.S. Treasury collected zero revenue from the sales driven overseas."

Obama is a Calculating, Not Stupid Individual

"More and more people are writing about Obama's alleged stupidity.  J.R. Dunn of American Thinker penned the piece "How Stupid is Obama?" and Brett Stephens' Wall Street Journal article asserts that "the president isn't very bright."

I respectfully disagree with these two writers.  They are missing the point.  Barack Hussein Obama is not stupid.  He knows exactly what he is doing.  He is bent on the erosion of American values and, so far, he is winning.  We must step out of our proud-of- America-worldview and examine Obama's actions from a different focal point. Otherwise, we rationalize his decisions as acts of inexperience and foolishness."

Obama's Proposed Train to Nowhere

"Remember Obama's State of the Union address? There was one portion so blindingly, mind numbingly stupid that I've been hesitant up to now, to try to point out just how truly awful it is.

Within 25 years, our goal is to give 80 percent of Americans access to high-speed rail. (Applause.) This could allow you to go places in half the time it takes to travel by car. For some trips, it will be faster than flying — without the pat-down. (Laughter and applause.) As we speak, routes in California and the Midwest are already underway.

Aside from the utter dishonesty of implying that the TSA has no design on increasing security at every train station throughout the US, how good a prescription for an ailing economy is high speed rail?"

Obama Visits Corporation Where His Stimulus Created 'Green' Jobs at $2 Million Per Job

"President Barack Obama on Thursday toured a vehicle battery plant in Michigan, touting his administration’s focus on green technology and jobs, at a corporation where federal money authorized by the economic stimulus law that Obama signed at the beginning of his presidency had created "green" jobs at a cost of about $2 million in federal subsidies per job.

The economic stimulus, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, provided $2.4 billion in grants to advanced vehicle batteries technology. From that amount, $300 million in grants went to Johnson Controls to manufacture batteries.

According to the White House, thus far the firm has added 150 jobs because of the grant. That means the government spent about $2 million per job, but only if no more jobs are added."

Dems' Risky Tea Party Smear Strategy

The Democrats' Big Lie

"The liberals have fully absorbed the lessons taught by their ideological progenitors, the Nazi socialists and Soviet communists. They understand that the big lie, if endlessly repeated, is extremely effective. Its purpose is to establish in the minds of the target audience an automatic stimulus-response connection, a Pavlovian conditioned reflex: capitalist = fat cat; George Bush = moron; Sarah Palin = idiot; Barack Obama = genius, any Kennedy = gift to mankind, etc. Ask the liberal spouting any of the above for proof that, say, Sarah Palin is an idiot or Barack Obama an intellectual giant, and the answer would be a puzzled stare -- why, everyone knows that she is a moron and he a towering intellect, so it must be true. Just repeat your slogan often enough, and once embedded in the minds of the people the mantra becomes reality for them."

Obama's Undignified Transparency

"Pentagon officials had said that because 19 families of the deceased 30 soldiers objected to media coverage of the remains coming off a plane at Dover Air Force Base, no images would be taken. The Pentagon was so emphatic about the sensitive nature of the event, they even "rejected media requests to take photos that showed officials at the ceremony but did not depict caskets."

.... not even the photographers who generally accompany the Defense Secretary and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff were permitted to attend.  The Pentagon was committed to fully respecting the wishes of the fallen soldiers' families; they deferred to the bereaved and refrained from chronicling the event with official photos of the solemn occasion.

In an attempt to give Barack Obama the stature he lacks as a leader, the photo was shot [by the White House Photographer] against a gray sky, under the wing of an aircraft, outlining a saluting President from behind, standing ramrod straight, two heads above four other men whose hands were over their hearts.

The issue here is not whether Obama was saluting or not; it's that the President's unrelenting quest for attention was the sole reason that the crushed parents, brokenhearted wives, and confused children whose loved ones' bodies were rolled off a cargo plane into a concrete hanger were denied the simple request for a private moment of grief. A Disaster Waiting to Happen

"Sometime late this summer—the Friday before Labor Day if historical patterns hold—the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will announce the beginning of something called Medicare Round Two of “the Competitive Bidding Program for certain Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies.” Although it sounds obscure, this bidding process’s manifest flaws could have serious consequences for just about every American who needs medical care. Shortages of vital devices could develop, medical supply companies could go out of business, medical innovation could slow, and, if things go as badly as some economists think they will, health care costs could skyrocket as the direct result of a program intended to control them."

A Disarmed Society is a Violent Society

"It’s hard to imagine riots of these size going on for days on end in the American South or Midwest simply because so many armed, law-abiding citizens would stand ready to defend their lives, liberty and property. Once you’ve shot a few rioters dead, it does rather tend to put a damper on the festive mood of the others. An armed shop owner in Texas or Ohio wouldn’t have to stand idly by while his life work burned, waiting vainly for police that never come."

Medicare Regulation Causes Shortages of Cancer Drugs

Decades of experience (if our bureaucrats would care to study it and believe what they find) in the former Soviet sphere of "central planning" should tell our U.S. regulators that it is impossible for a few (thousand ?) bureaucrats in Washington to accurately predict and manage in place of the MILLIONS of daily decisions by Americans in our economy.  This cancer drug experience is but a micro-picture of what is coming down the road with Obamacare. "Things like this are the root of my skepticism about technocratic rule-making.  I have no doubt that the earnest people who drafted this rule spent a lot of time thinking about whether the allowed price increase should be 5% or 7%.  But they somehow overlooked a rather significant feature of the market they were regulating, and the effect that their rule would have when it interacted with market reality.  The more complex your system of rules is, the harder it is to keep track of these potential unwanted side effects."

"Michigan has removed about 30,000 college students from its food stamp program — close to double the initial estimate — saving about $75 million a year, says Human Services Director Maura Corrigan.

An American Politburo

"An American Politburo has materialized before our eyes.  Yes, our Congress is the result of a two-party system (those Rs and Ds) and, on the surface, doesn't fit very well with the one-party USSR system, but, let's look at those little pesky things called facts.

Administrative actions are already replacing legislative acts as the primary governance mechanism.  Just examine the number of regulations emanating from the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services, etc, etc.

Many large- and medium-sized cities in America have formed Councils on Sustainability, Councils on Urban Development, Councils on Transportation, Councils on Economic Development, and Council, after Council, after Council.  Hmmm...most of these councils are appointed, not elected, here in America.

Just exactly what is a council?  The Russian term for council is soviet.  In the Council Union (the Soviet Union), rules were laid down by local soviets, regional soviets, and the national soviet. "

President Priss

"There has been no shortage of fawning and sycophantic descriptions of Barack Hussein Obama. He has been called the most intelligent man ever elected president. Some believe he is literally a genius. Obama himself "always believes he is the smartest person in any room," according to those who know him.

In spite of these claims of brilliance, close examination of his remarks indicates he is of average intellect at best.  In fact, analysis of his 2011 State of the Union address revealed his remarks were written at 8.1 grade school level, the second lowest of the 70 SOTU addresses delivered since the 1930s. Only the Tea Party Had a $4 Trillion Plan

" S&P’s Chambers is saying the ratings agency wants to see at least a $4 trillion deal, one that would come with bipartisan support, too, because the ratings agency fears without that support, Congress will upend any debt-cutting plan.

There was only ever one plan that did what S&P said was required — $4 trillion in cuts with bipartisan support. That’d be Cut, Cap, and Balance — a plan that cut $4 trillion and got bipartisan support in the House of Representatives.

As Democrats tonight, and some Republicans, lash out and blame the Tea Party for causing the United States to lose its credit rating, it is worth pointing out that only the Tea Party offered up a plan to avoid what happened.

This is precisely why the GOP should have held the line."

Congratulations, Class Warriors

When government sets up income taxes to "tax the rich", the government loses even more money when a recession hits and "the rich" earn less to be taxed.  In data comparing income tax revenues between 2007 and 2009 (yep, the government needs a few years to tally up their numbers ..... not enough government employees to DO ALL THIS WORK you know)..... they found:
"Total adjusted gross incomes (AGI) less deficits declined $1.1 trillion, or 12%.  However, due to our progressive income tax, the percentage decline in taxes collected was even greater: 22%."  [American Thinker]

The Budget Control Act Of 2011 Violates Constitutional Order

In the debt ceiling bill* just passed are buried procedures which cede future control over raising our debt ceiling to the President.   In my understanding it works as follows:
  1. When our borrowing gets within $100 Billion of the authorized debt limit. The President has authority to raise the limit.
  2. This raise is then automatic unless both the House and Senate DISAPPROVE of the raise.
  3. The President retains veto power over that disapproval ....... thus putting ALL POWER TO RAISE FUTURE DEBT CEILINGS SOLELY IN THE HANDS OF THE PRESIDENT.
THIS TOTALLY SHREDS OUR CONSTITUTION

[clipper]

* " The 74-page Budget Control Act of 2011 was not written over the weekend.  Yet it was posted on the House Rules Committee website with no fanfare, only hours before it was to be voted upon, breaking the pledge of the House Republicans to provide at least 72-hours advance public notice."   [American Thinker]

U.S. eats up most of debt limit in one day

"U.S. debt shot up $239 billion on Tuesday — the largest one-day bump in history — as the government flexed the new borrowing room it earned in this week’s debt-limit increase deal.

The debt subject to the statutory limit shot way past the old cap of $14.294 trillion to hit $14.532 trillion on Tuesday, according to the latest the Treasury Department figures, which are released on the next business day.

That increase puts the government already remarkably close to the new debt limit of $14.694, which means one day’s new borrowing ate up 60 percent of the $400 billion in space Congress granted the president this week."

The real story of the US debt deal is not the triumph of the Tea Party but the death of the Socialist Left

I fear this Brit overstates the case...... although it IS interesting to see a journalist from the other side of the pond saying this.

The American Animal Farm

"Political ideology in America has devolved to forms that would make Orwell cringe today: socialists (née Marxists) and democratic socialists (née Keynesians).  The former views government as an all-purpose solution and the latter views government as a "stimulator," a kind of economic and social Wizard of Oz.  The two are more alike than they are different.  The fatal flaw of both is the chronic inability of voters and their elected representatives to distinguish between wants and needs.  Elections are now confused with democracy, and the majority seldom votes for the common good -- or their own best interests."

Voters Favor Pay Cuts for Congress, President Until Budget Is Balanced

"An overwhelming majority of voters nationwide want members of Congress to take a pay cut until the federal budget is balanced, and a plurality also thinks the president should chop his salary in half until that time."

When a Cut is Not a Cut

"One might think that the recent drama over the debt ceiling involves one side wanting to increase or maintain spending with the other side wanting to drastically cut spending, but that is far from the truth.  In spite of the rhetoric being thrown around, the real debate is over how much government spending will increase.

No plan under serious consideration cuts spending in the way you and I think about it.  Instead, the "cuts" being discussed are illusory, and are not cuts from current amounts being spent, but cuts in projected spending increases. "

DEMs Come Un-Glued !!!

"We’ve got to educate the American people at the same time we educate the President of the United States. The Republicans, Speaker Boehner or Majority Leader Cantor did not call for Social Security cuts in the budget deal. The President of the United States called for that. My response to him is to mass thousands of people in front of the White House to protest this."  [Rep. John Conyers, D, Mich]

Cloward-Piven Paradise Now?

"While radical Alinsky/Cloward-Piven disciple Obama appears to be clueless and detached, it may be a ploy; he may actually be focused and engaged as he purposely pursues an Alinsky-inspired course of action to force the system to "live up" to its own rules.  Obama's ultimate goal of once-and-for-all discrediting the capitalist system and replacing America's foundational economic and social tenets with a broad-based socialist one headed by progressive Marxists like himself, is actually within reach.

As Obama pushes and prods the US economy and instigates social unrest, it could be that he believes a Cloward-Piven-style utopia resides just beyond the horizon -- a progressive panacea where an election-free, classless society, thankful for a simple crust of bread, looks to Barack Obama to keep the peace by remaining in power indefinitely.

Therefore, unless all of America, regardless of class or political persuasion, pays attention to the potential for a bleak future that lies ahead and realizes the President's non-plan could be itself an actual calculated plan, the resulting consequences will affect everyone, as Barack Obama transforms a once great nation into Cloward and Piven's idea of paradise."
