Herman Cain at Pillsbury

"Today’s big news story is the revelation that while he was with the National Restaurant Association, Herman Cain was accused of some sort of impropriety by two women. It is impossible to know what to make of this story. Apparently no formal claims were brought, Politico’s description of the events that gave rise to the complaints is too vague to evaluate, and the amounts reportedly paid to the women in connection with their departure from NRA were small enough to be consistent with just about any scenario

Still, Politico’s story makes this article in today’s Minneapolis Star Tribune timely: “Herman Cain’s career at Pillsbury is a tale of two turnarounds.” Cain made his reputation as a businessman at Pillsbury, to the Strib was pursuing a local angle on his candidacy. The article is both flattering–it almost seems that the paper forgot that its subject is a Republican–and highly relevant to today’s attack in Politico:....."

Could We See World War Three in Our Lifetimes?

"The world situation today is as unsettled as it has been at any time since the late 1930s.  Indeed, I believe that the underlying cause of this is the same as it was in that era: irresolute policies by Western leaders that will, if they are not corrected soon, leave nations with no choices except for abject surrender and all-out war.  Time and time again world leaders have chosen to punt dangerous problems down the road rather than take the risks necessary to resolve them today.  Some of these problems, such as China's reckless pursuit of short-term growth as a substitute for political reform, unsustainable global debt loads, Iran's headlong rush towards nuclear weapons, the illegal movement of ten million Mexicans into the United States, and Europe's lackadaisical economic integration, can and will have no happy resolution.  The question is what shade of terrible the results will be."

Population Bomb Epic Fail

"On Monday, the world’s 7 billionth person is expected to be born.  Somewhere.  Look for the media and the usual worn-out handwringers to strike up the usual dirge.

.... the whole “population bomb” shtick, the summa of Malthusianism, is going to have another short-lived revival on Monday, though it is likely to be staged so far off-Broadway that Frank Rich’s intern won’t even give it much coverage after the opening night footlights are switched off.  In other words, this milestone is going to be a one-day story, at best.

global fertility rates have fallen so fast that we can now foresee the peak of global population a few decades out, after which we will likely start to see the world’s population start to shrink fairly dramatically.  A few people in the media have started to notice: Reuters notes that falling population may present more serious social problems than rising population.  (How will we pay for our welfare states, for example?) Conspiracies, Lies, and Justiagate

"I have never believed in conspiracies -- at least, not in the vast kind that Hillary felt the right wing deployed against her philandering husband.  More often, it seems the cover-up of truth, not the circulation of manufactured untruths, lies at the root of such conspiratorial ideas.
Nor do I believe in the kinds of conspiracies seen in movies, with a "spooky dude" in a tower plotting a global takeover while ordering minions to carry out his evil intentions.......

While that famous document [Obama's "birth certificate"]captivated the nation, quietly, yet slowly gaining prominence, another campaign emerged.  This one aimed to address Obama's eligibility -- focused not on proving a U.S. birth, but instead on the less sensational questions of whether presidential candidates should produce relevant documents as part of vetting, and whether dual citizenship at birth renders one ineligible under the "natural born" requirement of the Constitution's Article 2. The thermal images that prove 90% of tents in the Occupy camp in London are left EMPTY overnight

"These are the damning images that prove the anti-capitalist protest that has closed St Paul’s Cathedral is all but deserted at night.

Footage from a thermal imaging camera taken late at night reveals just a fraction of the makeshift camp was occupied.

An independent thermal imaging company, commissioned by the Daily Mail, captured these pictures after similar footage from a police helicopter found only one in ten tents were occupied after dark."

The Same Washington Post That Got Marco Rubio’s Story Wrong, Attacks Him Again

"Last week, the Washington Post attacked Marco Rubio for “misrepresenting” his family’s story. The Post got called out by other newspapers for the Post’s egregious truth stretching to make its story fit. In the quotes the Washington Post cited, the reporter misrepresented the context of Marco Rubio’s remarks. It was true that Rubio had gotten some details wrong. But it was also very clear that they were the innocent mistakes of a son retelling his parents’ story. It was also true the Washington Post got parts of its reporting wrong.

But the Washington Post has not stopped. Now the paper is back at it premising a new article on the last story without nothing the Washington Post itself got key elements of its story wrong. This time, the Washington Post wants to make the case that Marco Rubio could be a risky Vice Presidential pick for the GOP."

Occupy Portland Fears it has Lost up to $20,000 in Donations

"Welcome to Anarchy 101. Other than "Eat the rich" and "Forgive my student loans", there is little cohesion to these ranks of rank amateurs and ranker political noobs. If one wants to siphon off cash and another wants to take control of your Internet domain name, who's to stop them? And if the "general assembly" of Portland decides to act contrary to a decision of occupy Wall Street's general assembly, who decides who is right? A piece of Obama’s jobs bill at last garners passage … but in the House

"Let no Democrat anywhere ever say again that Republican obstructionism is to blame for the inaction of Congress and the president on jobs. Not only has the Republican House of Representatives passed 15 of its own jobs bills, but, today, the House also passed part of the president’s American Jobs Act, according to The Washington Times. That’s more than can be said for the Democratically-controlled Senate, which has yet to pass a single component of the AJA."

Demystifying 9-9-9 and Other Fair Taxes

" If you want our current, highly progressive social engineering system, go with Romney.  If you want a slightly less progressive somewhat-social engineering system, go with Perry.  If you want a slightly progressive but almost fair, government-out-of-your-business system, go with Cain.  If you believe that no one should pay any government for anything, go with Paul.

Also remember that fixing (or not) the tax system might be year 1.  What kind of president do you want for years 2, 3, and 4; a "government is the solution" or a "government is the problem" kind of president?"

Is the POTUS Stirring Up a Revolution?

"Usage of words such as greed, selfish, and mean, while always a part of the liberal description of Republicans, has escalated more in recent years.

While most pundits seem to think of this as just another chapter in American politics, albeit somewhat intense, I'm less blasé about it.  I see this as a potential beginning of serious violence in our streets and neighborhoods.  At worst, problems could escalate to a point requiring national action -- possibly a declaration of a state of emergency with military involvement.  Is it possible we could have martial law imposed on us around next November, and, coincidentally, have the elections postponed?  Not likely, but possible.

More certain, however, is the extended racial and class tension that will exist for decades.  While I never expected racism to go away completely, racial harmony in this country has been gaining momentum and is, essentially, more of a problem to the left-wing media and certain race-baiting politicos than to folks on the ground.  I'm afraid the actions of this administration may reverse the positive course that people of all races have worked so hard to establish.  Barack Obama has done his best to delay racial harmony.

And class warfare?  The vociferous screams from the left have prompted normally silent, tax-paying Americans to denigrate those who don't pay taxes: adding their voices to the argument and elevating hostilities."

New DoJ rule a license to lie?

"Barack Obama campaigned for office on the promise to bring more transparency to government.  He pledged to strengthen the Freedom of Information Act; the White House web site published Obama’s memo on FOIA compliance, which commanded the executive branch to follow this principle:

The Freedom of Information Act should be administered with a clear presumption: In the face of doubt, openness prevails.

Those are indeed laudable words.  However, as we know, actions speak louder than words, and an effort to create a new rule for the Department of Justice shows what the Obama administration actually thinks of openness and transparency:

A longtime internal policy that allowed Justice Department officials to deny the existence of sensitive information could become the law of the land — in effect a license to lie — if a newly proposed rule becomes federal regulation in the coming weeks.

The proposed rule directs federal law enforcement agencies, after personnel have determined that documents are too delicate to be released, to respond to Freedom of Information Act requests “as if the excluded records did not exist.” …

President unveils lawless scheme to bypass Congress with executive orders

"President Obama officially declared Congress irrelevant on Monday. Instead of following the proper legislative process, he’s going to rule by executive orders issued once per week for the rest of the year. “We don’t have to wait for Congress, we’re just going to go ahead and act on our own,” said Mr. Obama.

The president is upset that his Democratic Senate balked at his $467 billion American Jobs Act both as a whole and broken up into smaller tax-and-stimulus bills. So he’s going to bypass democracy and try to rule by fiat."

PHOTO EVIDENCE – Barack Obama LED #OccupyChicago Protests – Circa 2000

"Obama personally helped plan one of UNO’s most confrontational actions of the eighties [in 1988]: a break-in meant to intimidate a coalition of local business and neighborhood leaders into dropping a landfill expansion deal.

We know of Obama’s involvement in this demonstration only because his supporters in 2008 felt it necessary to rebut charges that, contrary to his claims of inter-racial healing, he had organized exclusively with blacks. Only then did Obama’s former colleagues from UNO [United Neighborhood Organization, a largely Mexican group] of Chicago reveal that he had helped to plan and lead this multi-ethnic demonstration against landfill expansion on Chicago’s South Side.

…Shouting “No deals!” somewhere between eighty and a hundred UNO-DCP [Developing Communities Project, a black group organized by Obama] marched to a local bank. There they broke into a meeting being conducted by the bank president and local community leaders. The group was exploring the possibility of a deal with Waste Management. The protestors, presumably including Obama, surrounded the meeting table while [Mary-Ellen] Montes [of UNO] told the negotiators, “We will fight you every step of the way.” "

Why rich celebrities aren't being demonized

"President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party have led increasingly successful efforts to pit Americans against one another through the politics of hate and envy. Attacking CEO salaries, the president – last year during his Midwest tour – said, "I do think at a certain point you've made enough money."

I'm not equating America's liberals with Robespierre, Josef Stalin and Hitler. I am saying that promoting jealousy, fear and hate is an effective strategy for politicians and their liberal followers to control and micromanage businesses. It's not about the amount of money people earn. If it were, politicians and leftists would be promoting jealousy, fear and hate toward multimillionaire Hollywood and celebrities and sports stars, such as LeBron James ($48 million), Tiger Woods ($75 million) and Peyton Manning ($38 million). But there is no way that politicians could take over the roles of Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga and LeBron James. That means celebrities can make any amount of money they want and it matters not one iota politically.

Eligibility rulings vanish from Net

The U.S. Constitution requires that the President must be a "natural born citizen".

"Arguably, under the definition in the case, neither candidate in 2008, Democrat Obama nor Republican Sen. John McCain, would be eligible. McCain was born outside of the United States at a U.S. base in the Panama Canal Zone, and Obama's father never was a U.S. citizen." [WND]

McCain was declared eligible under a 1790 Congressional Act:
Congress: "And the children of citizens of the United States, that may be born beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens."

However, there has never been a court case which clarifies the definition, except one - 'Minor v. Happersett'.

However .... the website Justia.com, THE authoritative source for publishing all Supreme Court cases, had it's records scrubbed clean of references to 'Minor v. Happersett' sometime during the 2008 political campaign. So records of this case were unavailable to those searching for definitions during the 2008 election campaign!

Obama's eligibility is under question.

Who scrubbed clean these references? Was it Obama operatives?  or McCain's?

Immigration Agents Ordered to Defy Court Orders

"How long are the American people going to tolerate the willful defiance of US laws by our current administration and government officials?

The president of the union that represents officers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Chris Crane, testified before members of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration that ICE officers have been ordered not arrest any illegals that have been previously arrested, deported and then re-enter the US illegally again, even though that constitutes a federal felony.  Furthermore, they have been instructed to not arrest any illegal that is a fugitive from court ordered deportation if they have no other prior criminal convictions.

Not only has President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder openly told the American people that they are not going to enforce various federal laws such as the Marriage Act or any one of a number of immigration laws, but now government employees are being ordered to defy court orders and US federal laws.

In a US Supreme Court decision involving Sheriff Richard Mack, it was ruled that the county sheriff has the ultimate legal authority in their county, even over the feds.  This being the case, I strongly urge all county sheriffs to arrest any government person in their county involved in the willful refusal to carry out the laws of the land.  They need to arrest Obama when he comes to their county to campaign and charge him with crimes against the people and the Constitution of the United States.  County sheriffs need to arrest Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano and John Morton for the same reason."

Why Did the White House Cancel the Rose Garden Bill Signing Ceremony for the Free Trade Agreements?

"Why did the White House cancel a Rose Garden bill-signing for the Free Trade Agreements, opting instead for a behind-closed-doors event?

On Tuesday, the White House issued a press release announcing that “On Friday, October 21st, President Obama will sign the Korea, Panama and Colombia Free Trade Agreements and the renewal of Trade Adjustment Assistance for workers in the Oval Office before making remarks in the Rose Garden.

Then on Thursday afternoon an “UPDATED” press release went out stating that instead, “President Obama will sign the Korea, Panama and Colombia Free Trade Agreements and the renewal of Trade Adjustment Assistance for workers in the Oval Office.

Perhaps the most stunning element of the Revolutionary Communist Party's manifesto is the call for black Americans to unite into a separate, autonomous republic in the American South.  Wilson cited the Revolutionary Communist Party's constitution, which called upon African-Americans to forge an autonomous region comprising "the southern part of the former imperialist United States of America."  That decision would be made by a special vote in which only African-Americans would be eligible to participate."

If Corporations Aren’t People, How Can They Be Greedy?

"A few weeks ago, Mitt Romney observed that corporations are people. This prompted hysteria on the left, including a video produced by the Democratic Party. But of course Romney was right. A corporation consists of its owners, i.e. shareholders, and its employees–people. It is an elementary principle of law that a corporation can act only through its employees and agents–people. The Democrats’ apparent belief that you can hurt companies without hurting people is absurd. The corporation is merely a legal form in which people do business, now several hundred years old.

A for-profit company exists to make money for its owners, and secondarily to provide wealth and opportunity for its employees. The managers who run any company have a fiduciary duty to try to maximize returns for their company’s owners–that is to say, profits. If a company’s executives decided not to be “greedy,” but rather to operate their company at a break-even level so as to avoid profit, they would be violating their legal duties and would be subject to shareholder lawsuits. And properly so."

A Constitutional Amendment to Enforce the Protections of Mens Rea

A government of secret laws is inimical to both prosperity and liberty.

"English common law contains a tradition, known as mens rea — Latin for “a guilty mind” — which is intended to protect people from prosecution for unintentional offenses. According to the doctrine of mens rea, if you did not knowingly commit a crime, then you are not a criminal, and should not be treated like one.

Every day brings us stories of citizens being prosecuted for actions no reasonable person could have suspected were crimes. Some of these events, such as a guitar maker being subject to an armed Gestapo raid by commandos in the employ of the federal Fish and Wildlife Service (!), would make hilarious material for a surreal novel or film satirizing insane bureaucracy. Unfortunately, however, these cases are real, and not fiction, and the reality they exemplify is dangerous in the extreme.

According to a recent Wall Street Journal article which detailed many such exemplary abuses, the roster of federal crimes, which stood at 20 in the original criminal act of 1790, has now grown to at least 4500 statutory offenses, with unknown thousands of additional grounds for criminal prosecution contained within obscure regulations generated in ever burgeoning amounts by government agencies. Reid: Private sector employment doing just groovy, so we need to hire govt workers

"Sometimes, one marvels at the shamelessness of the spin and outright lies politicians tell to deflect criticism of their failed policies.  In Harry Reid’s case, one has to marvel also at the unbridled cluelessness of attempting to use easily-checkable claims — such as the notion that the real problem in unemployment is a lack of government workers, which is all the fault of George W. Bush.
"It's very clear that private-sector jobs have been doing just fine; it's the public-sector jobs where we've lost huge numbers, and that's what this legislation is all about," Reid said on the Senate floor.

EMBEDDED TAXES EXPLAINED

In the discussions about Mr. Cain's 9-9-9 tax plan, critics are trying to tell us that this plan will INCREASE taxes paid by everyone, especially lower paid workers.  Detractors of the plan claim that the 9% federal tax on all retail sales of NEW goods will represent an increase in the cost of those goods to the purchaser.

They fail to consider the fact that Americans already pay about 22% of the price of goods in tax.  We don't see that price because it is not labeled by the seller as a tax. There is, however, a the cost of tax added into the price of every item by every person along the chain of manufacture or production: miner, farmer, manufacturer, transporter, warehouse men, distributor, deliverymen, retailer.  All of these entities (companies) pay up to 35% tax on their income.  This cost of taxation is passed along to the next in the supply chain embedded in the cost of the goods.  These forms ARE NOT CHARITIES. They do not simply swallow the costs they pay in taxes, they pass the cost onward.

When these embedded taxes are removed or reduced, competition in a free capitalist system will cause sellers to reduce the prices they ask, in an effort to capture more business.  We can expect that very shortly, prices will reflect the removal of those hidden, embedded taxes.

Thus, although Mr. Cain's 9-9-9 tax places a federal tax of 9% on the sale of all new goods, the price upon which that tax is levied will be substantially less than previously by the amount of embedded tax removed.

Death by Bureaucracy

"Earlier this month, a panel appointed by the Department of Health and Human Services made a recommendation so detached from the good of individual patients it could only have come from government bureaucrats. They recommended eliminating screening for the most common cancer among males nationwide.

That is not a reasoned response to the problem. It is a bureaucratic response to the problem, and people will almost certainly die because of it.

This points to the difference between the bureaucratic approach to healthcare, which leads to rationing, and an approach to empower individuals and their doctors to make the best decisions for them.

Of course, it is ridiculous to have a handful of government bureaucrats with no expertise in the matter issuing recommendations that influence federal, state, and private health systems in crafting policies. Doctors and patients are in the best position to determine whether individuals should be screened for prostate cancer and to judge the best course of action afterward.  "

The actual other 99 percent

A comparison of American incomes to other countries.  If the OWS'ers REALLY want to share the wealth, then those Americans on the bottom end will have a lot of sharin' to do!

"Brazil’s bottom ventile — that is, the poorest 5 percent of the Brazilian population, shown as the left-most point on the line — is about as poor as anyone in the entire world, registering a percentile in the single digits when compared to the income distribution worldwide. Meanwhile, Brazil also has some of the world’s richest, as you can see by how high up on the chart Brazil’s top ventile reaches. In other words, this one country covers a very broad span of income groups.

Now take a look at America.

Notice how the entire line for the United States resides in the top portion of the graph? That’s because the entire country is relatively rich. In fact, America’s bottom ventile is still richer than most of the world: That is, the typical person in the bottom 5 percent of the American income distribution is still richer than 68 percent of the world’s inhabitants."

"Never in our state's history did the words 'every vote counts' ring so true. However, a cloud of doubt still hangs over the results. Post-election analysis showed that hundreds of ineligible felons voted in the election. Over 17,000 more ballots were counted than voters accounted for as having voted in our Statewide Voter Registration System. Over 23,000 addresses provided by Election Day registrants could not be verified. Voter rolls contained the names of non-citizens and deceased individuals," the organization reported."

The Exasperation of the Democratic Billionaire

"Real-estate and newspaper mogul Mortimer Zuckerman voted for Obama but began seeing trouble as soon as the stimulus went into the pockets of municipal unions.

'It's as if he doesn't like people," says real-estate mogul and New York Daily News owner Mortimer Zuckerman of the president of the United States. Barack Obama doesn't seem to care for individuals, elaborates Mr. Zuckerman, though the president enjoys addressing millions of them on television."

Obama Fundraising Overhype

"Team Obama hyped its third-quarter fundraising and the “watchdogs” of the establishment media lapped it right up.  The WaPo’s Dan Eggen, in a story headlined “Obama far outpaces his GOP rivals in third-quarter fundraising,” was typical:

The campaign said it raised $43 million from July through September, plus $27 million for the Democratic National Committee, which can accept much larger donations. That brings the campaign’s total to more than $90 million, plus $65 million more for the DNC, since Obama formally began his reelection bid.
Those outside the establishment media will recognize that the GOP candidates’ total — excluding personal loans and campaign transfers — is $49,725,000, which is higher than the $43 million raised for the Obama campaign.  Obama also raised $27 million for the DNC, but the RNC raised $23.4 million in the third quarter without having a presidential nominee (one might say Obama helped raised that money also).  The GOP/RNC haul becomes $73,125,000 — again, higher than the Obama/DNC total."

House Bill Would Criminalize Satire of TSA

This "logo" may become illegal !!!!

"On September 22, 2011, H.R. 3011 was introduced in the House. It is entitled the “Transportation Security Administration Authorization Act of 2011” and it contains some curious language.

In the past, satire was protected under the First Amendment, but it may soon be illegal to poke fun at the TSA or use its logo or even utter its name."

Propaganda Created, Saved and Supported

"The Obama administration’s latest tactic for selling its jobs bill is to claim it will “support” 400,000 jobs (primarily in government).  Ed Morrissey notes this metric is as unmeasurable as jobs “saved or created” by Obama’s failed stimulus law, which is a good springboard for underscoring a crucial point about the 2012 campaign.

When Obama came up with the “saved or created” dodge, it wasn’t just people right of center noting it was a hustle.  People like Lawrence Katz, former chief economist for the Clinton Labor Department, called it a “silly exercise” and noted the nubers were inherently inaccurate.  This scam was so widely mocked that the Obama administration gave up officially counting jobs “saved or created” under the stimulus. BIG BROTHER - FBI

"If you call a radio talk show and get on the air, you might be recorded by the FBI.

The FBI has awarded a $524,927 contract to a Virginia company to record as much radio news and talk programming as it can find on the Internet.

The FBI says it is not playing big brother by policing the airwaves, but rather seeking access to what airs as potential evidence."

America's Children Come Home to Roost

"Do you think the young gent from Occupy Wall Street who defecated on the cop car got an A in "Dialectics of Hegemony"?

The hordes of pathetic, dead-eyed pagans pustulating through our cities with Occupy Wall Street are the crowning achievement of America's academy.

Thousands of vampires with PhDs labored for decades to perfect the art of sucking the souls from America's trusting young, and then hustling them into the slavery of terminal stupidity.

How obedient these foul-smelling young wretches are! How touchingly eager they are to please! They sit on the ground in kindergarten formation, obligingly parroting whatever hellish nihilism oozes from the "microphone leader's" lips:  "Everything is possible!  You can have sex with animals!"  Up go the "happy hands" in dutiful response.  They so want to be good!"

Who Besides Solyndra Got Loan Guarantees?

"Solyndra CEO Brian Harrison just resigned, as the controversy stubbornly refuses to go away.  Seems worth revisiting the loans once again, since I've spent a little time looking more deeply at the program over the past few days.

Supporters of these programs claim that they're a necessary part of winning the green future because these are investments that are too risky, or too big, for private capital to take on.

I have highlighted what jumped out at me: most of the money has gone to enormous companies that should have no trouble accessing capital.  Established utilities, large multinational auto manufacturers, a global warehouse owner.  The bulk of these funds are not going to rectify some gap in the capital markets.  They're straight subsidies to huge corporations.  Even some of the smaller firms/deals are owned by large corporations like Total SA.

Giving large, established companies extra-cheap loans to build power plants, run transmission lines, and fix up the roofs of their warehouses is, in the immortal words of P.J. O'Rourke, like paying a Dairy Queen owner to keep his ice cream freezers on.

Why does that matter?  Because it skews our perceptions of the usefulness of the program.  If we loan a bunch of money to firms that could easily get the money elsewhere, and a little bit of money to firms that are very risky, we can claim a high "success" rate even if all the risky firms fail.  "

Jimmy Obama ?

Maybe That’s Why He Is Unemployed

"Does the White House just not vet these people?

The Obama Administration wanted to show the President in a blue collar setting, so they put him at a table with several bottles of Budweiser and some unemployed workers. Note that the President had a Budweiser in front of him, but wisely opted for a Guiness.

In any event, one of the unemployed workers is a guy named Mark McKim. Turns out Mr. McKim was arrested in 2006 for DUI and possession of drugs. In 2007, he was arrested for violating probation."

Bloomberg tells Occupy Wall Street protesters to clear Zuccotti Park by Friday

"Wall Street may not be occupied for much longer.

Two days after Mayor Michael Bloomberg said protesters could stay in Zuccotti Park "indefinitely" if they followed the law, the mayor visited them tonight to say they had to be out of there by Friday, according to the mayor's office. The reason given by the mayor tonight was that the park needs to be cleaned. "

Who's behind the Wall Steet protests?

GEORGE SOROS !!!!

"Soros and the protesters deny any connection. But Reuters did find indirect financial links between Soros and Adbusters, an anti-capitalist group in Canada which started the protests with an inventive marketing campaign aimed at sparking an Arab Spring type uprising against Wall Street."

Reverse Racism

"This [ "Injustice: Exposing the Racial Agenda of the Obama Justice Department." by J. Koch, the Democrats, the Hippies, and Hypocrisy

"The Democrats, rallying to the hippies occupying various streets around the country, have seized on a Bloomberg News story about Koch Industries doing business in Iran.

The Democrats want every Republican who has ever taken money from the Kochs to give that money back.

Except there are a few problems. Such as, other than it being a political hit against some right-of-center billiionaires, the story doesn’t seem to have proven or uncovered much of anything.

Koch Industries did not directly do business in Iran. A subsidiary did business in Iran. It was legal at the time to do so. When Koch found out about it, however, it shut it down. No laws were broken in the process of putting people to work.

But wait . . . there’s more.  ......"

[Red State]

Greed & Hippies Properly Understood

"About the only thing these hippies, hipsters, senior citizens who never grew up, and college trust funders out protesting can agree on is that greed is bad. They want the whole capitalist system pulled up by the root and replaced with something else because of greed.

What they either do not understand or choose to ignore is that greed is not a capitalist invention. Greed exists because people do. Greed exists in capitalist societies, socialist societies, and communist societies.

What these dirty urban hipsters want is a form of greed themselves. They don’t want the rich capitalist to have his money. The hipsters covet power. They are greedy in their own way for their own power. They want the power to set the salaries of the CEO and determine, based on their own sense of fair play, what is and is not fair and what is and is not just.

What the hipsters want is far more dangerous than what the top 1% in this country have — the hipsters want the power to control all our lives through force of government. The capitalists just want to sell us things."

The Occupiers' World Awaits

"My most heartfelt wish for the mindless minions currently "Occupy[ing] Wall Street" is that someday, hopefully soon, they get to live in a world based upon their dim-witted delusions.  Actually, though, if these collectivist cretins are indeed serious, that world is already here.

It's called the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (aka communist North Korea).  In North Korea, there are no evil corporations or banks to ruin Occupiers' lives, because another pair of collectivist cretins, Kim Il-sung and his creepy son Kim Jung-il, got rid of them long ago.  In fact, along with ridding North Korea of everything other than the glorious state, the Kim Klan has either already met most of the Occupier's nattering demands or simply made them superfluous."

Wisconsin schools buck union to cut health costs

"The Hartland-Lakeside School District, about 30 miles west of Milwaukee in tiny Hartland, Wis., had a problem in its collective bargaining contract with the local teachers union.

The contract required the school district to purchase health insurance from a company called WEA Trust. The creation of Wisconsin's largest teachers union -- "WEA" stands for Wisconsin Education Association -- WEA Trust made money when union officials used collective bargaining agreements to steer profitable business its way.

The problem for Hartland-Lakeside was that WEA Trust was charging significantly higher rates than the school district could find on the open market."

Obama the Divider

"A Washington Post story from earlier this week reports, “There is a noticeably more aggressive, confrontational President Obama roaming the country these days, selling his jobs plan and attacking Republicans for standing in the way of progress by standing up only for the rich.” That report, if anything, understates things a bit. Obama has essentially given up on his governing responsibilities (at which he has shown himself to be terribly inept) in lieu of a fierce and near constant attack on his political opponents.

It’s not unusual, of course, for the policies of presidents to divide the nation. And politicians running for re-election often highlight differences. But Obama now belongs in a separate category. Each day, it seems, he and/or his supporters are seeking to divide us. The rhetoric employed by the president and his allies is meant to fan the flames of resentment, to turn Americans against one another, and to stoke up feelings of envy, grievances, and rage.

What he has done is the antithesis of what he said. Barack Obama has succumbed to virtually every partisan temptation, reached for every stale tactic, and bred division and conflict and cynicism across our land. He has resorted to petty bickering and pitted Red America against Blue America. He has even characterized his political opponents as “enemies.” "
