This article goes on to describe why the CATO INSTITUTE's opposition to Sowell's thesis is wrong.  It gets quite complex.   HOWEVER !!!! Sowell's fundamental argument is that as long as a supply of abundant cheap labor is AVAILABLE (either legal or illegal) from outside our borders, the wages paid to these workers will be penurious.   If the el-cheapo labor were not available the farmers would simply raise wages until "American" workers felt they could do the work.

Sure. Some farmers would stop growing "unprofitable" crops ..... until there was a shortage of that crop that makes it profitable for Farmer Jones to get into growing it and paying the higher labor cost to "American" workers.  Yes. Our prices for that crop would rise, but we wouldn't be paying through our taxes, the cost of supporting those low image farm workers.

Florida Nurse Terrorized by US Marshals in Warrantless Raid

This couple were TERRORIZED by the U.S. Marshall Service and the Sarasota Police For NO OFFENSE WHATSOEVER.  They initially believed they were being attacked by a hoodlum.  Drawing their (permitted) concealed carry weapon they confronted the person who DID NOT IDENTIFY HIMSELF as a U.S. Marshall, who broke their door in.

The whole incident was a case of over-zealous police going door-to-door searching (without a warrant) apartments for what they believed was a child-rapist.

In the George Zimmerman self-defense trial going on up the road from clipper's headquarters, I understand that Zimmerman's parents have not been permitted to be in the courtroom.  The reason, I was informed, was that the prosecution has put them on a "potential witness" list.   As we have seen, witnesses for the prosecution have been held outside the courtroom and called in as needed.  This makes sense.  It prevents their testimony from being influenced by that of others preceding them.  However, it does generate two questions in clipper's aging mind.....

#1  Is this standard prosecutorial practice?  Put defendant's supporters on your "potential" witness list, never intending to actually call them as witnesses, but keeping them from providing moral support to the defendant in the courtroom?   

#2 How come Trayvon Martin's mother, who has been sitting in the front row for the entire trial and heard every word of testimony, be called as a witness?  This seems VERY inconsistent, but must have a basis in law.
