House Democrats Propose Making Colleges Register Students for Same-Day Voting

"In response to the voter identification laws that have sprung up throughout the country, Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) introduced the “Voter Empowerment Act of 2012” (VEA) on May 17.“The Voter Empowerment Act will require all universities that receive federal funds to offer and encourage voter registration to their students,” " [Vision To America]

The 26th Amendment gave voting rights to those 18 years of age or older. The 15th and 19th prohibit denial or abridgement of voting rights on account of race, color, previous condition of servitude or sex. Nowhere does our Constitution suggest that the federal government connect payment of funds to institutions to take part in voter registration. This is yet ANOTHER over-reach by the liberals to raise the power of federal government. [clipper]
