In this article SLATE, the leftist, liberal blog and rag declares it will no longer call Washington's football team by their name - Redskins.  One SLATE pundit wrote "“The name Redskins is only a bit offensive, it’s extremely tacky and dated — like an old aunt who still talks about ‘colored people’ or limps her wrist to suggest someone’s gay,”

Another loudmouth chimed in ... "“Dan Snyder’s team would be the R-word, to go along with the N-word and the C-word and all the others.” "

How about the S-word?    Perhaps SLATE should take a closer look at its name.... SLATE a rock mined around the world, but principally in Wales in years gone by.  These mines, working Welshmen to the bone, were financed by folks like Lord Penrhyn, who devoted much of the profits of his (Jamaican) plantations to developing the slate quarries of North Wales. He was MP for Liverpool 1767-80 and 1784-90 and spoke forcibly against the campaign to abolish the slave trade. [http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/ism/slavery/].

Perhaps SLATE should be the one to change its name. Etch-A-Sketch would be appropriate just shake it up a bit and its writings disappear!
