Insanity: seventh-grader suspended three days for gun keychain the size of a quarter

"Yet another student has landed in trouble for having something that represents a gun, but isn’t actually anything like a real gun."

  1. Why would a parent even let their child have such a keychain? I believe the real concern is, what kind dr parents are we 'raising'- either a. A parent ignorant - of what their child is buying, of what might be a school hot button, ... OR
    B. A parent who would subject their child to/encourage their child in carrying something to school the parent KNOWS is a current school hot button. Utilizing that child to further a political agenda is purely exploitive!

Granted, I have not yet read the article......!

  2. A - What is WRONG or BAD about a gun? Your position is based, apparently, on a belief that "guns are bad", and therefore anything to do with them, even miniature toy replicas are bad.... especially if it is a dictate from the almighty school, that bans everything relating to guns ....... even a response from the principal or superintendent to this child's parents.
B - Because you have failed to read the article before posting your response .... you are making one gigantic leap into supposition about what actually happened. It is not obvious the parents even knew he had the key chain fob, and into attaching a parental political objective to the affair.
My gawd!!! It was not even the kid who had it in his pocket and who was suspended... it was another kid who grabbed it and waved it around.
And the school leadership hides behind the veil of "it's a student discipline issue" secrecy.
