Judge rules on Greenpeace motion in P&G protest case

" A Hamilton County judge today denied a defense motion to dismiss burglary charges filed against Greenpeace protesters who hung banners from Procter & Gamble’s headquarters in Cincinnati.

“The defendants forced the locks on multiple windows (on the 12th floor of the buildings), resulting in vandalism charges,” Piepmeier argued. Some of the defendants then rappelled down the sides of the 17-story towers and hung 50-foot banners, which “caused alarm to persons inside and outside the Procter & Gamble buildings.”

The protesters could be sentenced to up to nine-and-a-half years in prison if found guilty of the felony burglary and vandalism charges. They also could be fined up to $20,000 each."
