For those of you who believe that Obamacare is a benign health care program..... here is yet another reminder of it's draconian impact on our lives. Beginning 2012 at $1 per person, up to $2 per person in 2013, thereafter "rising with inflation", the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute collects taxes from us. The insurance companies pay this tax (right !) which is to fund GOVERNMENT research on which drugs, medical procedures, tests and treatments work best. This is the beginning of the government first - telling us - then - ordering us - treated with what and by whom they designate. And people thought "DEATH PANELS" was too strong a phrase!
We know that with the camel's nose in the tent, the next step for this outfit will be to "recommend" which drugs, medical procedures, tests and treatments will be allowed. The next step after that, as this government created agency continues to grow, will be to forbid insurance payment for drugs, medical procedures, tests and treatments which are not approved. By 2034 (the 50th anniversary of "1984", George Orwell's masterpiece foretelling the oppression of nanny-statism) we wll be in full-blown government control of our medical care and therefore our lives.
The Washington lap-dog Associated Press has the audacity to report to us that "Major insurers already are carrying out their own effectiveness research, but it lacks the credibility of government-sponsored studies." DOES THE ASSOCIATED PRESS REALLY BELIEVE THAT GOVERNMENT STUDIES ARE MORE CREDIBLE THAN PRIVATE INDUSTRY?????
