Boosting Voter Participation
Post 2014 mid-term election punditry is lamenting the very low voter turnout. Some have said this is the lowest turnout, measured as a percent of those eligible, since 1942. Around 36% participation is being reported.
Here is my suggestion on how to dramatically improve that number:
Make it a requirement that for an individual to receive ANY federal financial benefit, or any federally supported state benefit, that person must have voted in the most recent federal election.
Social Security, SS Disability, Food Stamps, Section 8 Housing, Unemployment, Aid to Dependent Children, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare subsidy, VA benefits, Farm Price supports, grants to individuals, and hundreds of others should be included.[clipper]
